bessie banks began her career singing Doo-Wop with "the Turbans vocal group" and then joined a quartet called "Three Guys and a Doll", who eventually became the Four Fellows without her, during the mid-'50s. Bessie recorded her first Doo-Wop single "you're still in my heart / johnny the dreamer" as Toni Banks, backed by the Four Fellows on their Glory label in 1957. Afterwards in 1963, she released her first soul single Do It Now / (You Should Have Been) A Doctor on the label SPOKANE 4009. Her husband "Larry Banks" wrote and composed her music during all her career. This single was also issued again on the label "Wand" a year later (wand 163).
