Bong Penera Started his musical career in 1968 with his Group the Shades of Latin focusing mainly latin Jazz being one of the leading groups in the Phillipino scene at the time but is was'nt the 70's and the formation of the Batucada did he and his batucada start to receive the recommendation and audience it deserved, a four piece with the sound of big band. With the popularity of brasilian music rising Bong Penera and the Batucada were the first to play Brasilian music in the phillipines thus sparking a number of amazing releases and the addition of Maria Dolce's vocal in english and portugues..
