ECM has reissued only a handful of albums originally recorded for other labels. This is one of them.Tibbets released this 2nd album of jazz/rock in 1980. It's his own unique vision and imo his best outing. The all instrumental Yr features Tibbetts on acoustic and electric guitars, keyboards (including quite a bit of mellotron), and all sorts of stringed instruments. A difficult album to easily sum up.More acoustic and less kosmische than the debut, but just as powerful. It's folk-y, but the style of the guitar playing does have a jazz-y style. The guitar is the main feature of this album for sure, with the various percussive instruments and the keyboard both just adding some background to what the guitar's doing. This makes the album's production feel kind of spacious, like the guitar's the only thing really keeping each song from fading into silence. It's fresh, dynamic, complex, beautiful, and magical.
