Black Slate was a Jamaican band that for one reason or another released this single in Belgium (only?). It was released on a very small private label called Music Master, by the division Disco Service. There's not much info available on the labels, besides a label address and the name of the producer, Eddy De Gucht. There's no date printed on the record, but I believe it was pressed in the early eighties, during the 2tone-era, which was very big in Belgium. This 7" is pressed on blue vinyl and it's in a red sleeve, but I believe there's also a yellow pressing available (in a yellow sleeve). The song 'Sticks Man' is a dancehall/ragga song with a very deep bass and minimal vocals with echoes all over it. The poor quality off the record (probably because it was recorded in a cheap studio) just adds to the great dirty sound of this record.
