This is a nice copy of the very rare PRIVATELY PRESSED lp FOLLIES BAZAAR "ten" TEN [follies bazaar records] - from the very obscure acoustic / electric rural psych folk rock collaborative band out of URI [university of rhode island] in KINGSTON, RHODE ISLAND _______ URI is known for having had something called "high noon" - where students would gather and smoke weed together at noon...some of these songs sound like high noon to us - but we also should say that these songs are really well done! the writing, performances AND recordings themselves are all great _______ includes printed cardboard cover with credits and liner notes on back cover _______ this stuff is strangely beautiful and amateur at times, this hippie/folk/psych LP was recorded in the late 1970's by a large entourage of guys and several chicks at NORMANDY SOUND studios in warren, rhode island - and released in early 1980 _______ the music runs the gamut from naive folk songs to jammin' electric boogies to accomplished bluegrass hoedowns - and some songs even have a steely dan jazz rock vibe going on. there are also some nice jams _______ oddly enticing and incredibly hard-to-find _______ this collective began in 1970 at URI as PERSPECTIVE and was renamed FOLLIES BAZAAR after releasing a few really amazing albums. records by both incarnations are listed in the HANS POKORA books and are highly sought after PRIVATE PRESS releases _______ CLOSELY WATCHED TRAINS and RIGHT OF LITTLE REST are also related rhode island communal psych folk groups _______ this lp has 8 SONGS: those kind of people, NO ONE TO BLAME, gonna do it to ya!, STRAIGHT FLUSH, a little off the top, REASON TO BE, my song, SCHOOLBOY TEARS _______ the first song, "THOSE KIND OF PEOPLE" is sort of a DRUG TAKING ANTHEM with the lyrics "we drive real fast on drugs" - with pill-poppin, booze-swillin' references. "A LITTLE OF THE TOP" is a smokin' bluegrass number. several others, especially "STRAIGHT FLUSH" have an excellent GROOVY mellow 70's rock feel _______ PERFORMERS: greg macedo, PETER WIMS, j. david sienko, MARTIN G.
