The president !!!! james brown was born 1933 in Barnwell, South Carolina. Later, he was raised in poverty by his aunt "Minnie" in Augusta, Georgia. He learns music, gets accustomed to songs, organ, battery via Gospel and the Black community.
In 1953, after a few years in prison for theft, he joins the R 'n' B band The Starlighters, a vocal quartet carried out by bobby byrd, his friend who will welcome him into his family. With a certain determination and a message to deliver, the band will become The Famous Flames and will mark the beginning of James' career...
It is in November 1955 that they record their first single please please please at WIBB Studio in Georgia. Radios play the song which climbs up the charts of record sales...
But it is in October 1958 that he propelled his first hit try me which will soon become the best-selling single at that time, and the first of his smash hits with king...
In February 1965 comes out his emblematic record papa's got a brand new bag and marks the beginning of a new era for Soul music. Within a few months he explodes the "R'n'B Top Charts" for 8 weeks and arrives in the first 10 in the "Pop Top Charts"!
In 1967, we assist to the birth of funk with the famous title cold sweat which will influence the scene for many generations to come...
It is in 1971 that record companies understand he will become undeniable and he signs with polydor and its subdivision people, for whom he will record intensively for the entire decade.
In 1974, he composes the payback, obtains an enormous success and receives a "Golden Record"... one on James' most impressive album of the 70's; its entry will be outstanding in the "Billboard's International Charts", a true consecration, with more than 500 000 copies sold. During these years, he will record a multitude of albums and singles for his "Home" artists, like jb's, marva whitney, lyn collins and many others…
In September 1984, whilst Hip Hop was born, James associates himself to james brown & afrika bambaataa, leader of the Bronx ; they record together the emblematic unity which will proclaim him as the godfather of the new sounds from the streets.
In January 1986, he signs living in america which becomes the theme of the movie "Rocky IV" and he ends up number 4 of the "Billboard's International Charts" one of his biggest success since i got you (i fell good), 3rd in 1965.
In February 1992, he receives the prize for the achievement of his artistic life at the 34th Grammy Awards. He is still here and carries on touring...
In December 2006, he goes to Crawford's "Emory Long Hospital" for pneumonia where he passes away on Monday 25th of December around 1.45am. A legend was born...
