Kainos were an 8-peice gospel-funk band formed around 1977.This is the one and only album produced by the london based group.The recording was marketed on a reggae label (Tempus)once the same stable as Birmingham greats, 'Steel Pulse'.
The group were the first english outfit of its time to experiment with the fusion of Funk and gospel.They played all over the London area and even made an appearance at the prestigious religous/contemporary Greenbelt music festival in 1979.The festival was filmed and contains rare live footage of the band, who also appeared in Hollands equivalent 'Kaamperland'.
Kainos disbanded in 1980 but left a legacy of a sub-genre of music which as influenced Black British gospel artists to this day, such as paradise , london community gospel choir ( lcgc) .

Paradise represented a unique subgenre of UK Black gospel music which was influenced by the 70's Giants such as Commodores and Earth Wind and Fire.Goups such as Kainos, Clarity and InnerVision rejected the traditional approach to gospel music and adopted Funk as their vehicle.
