 BIG CHEESE RECORDS
In a few years, "Big Cheese Records" has become one of the main actor and leader of the French soul-funk scene well known all around the world for their compilations and productions.
The label started in 1990, with Yamani "Momo" Dazi & Simon Hoare, both great collectors and crate diggers. Together, they started to organize many events in Paris, and after two years of solid activism, they decided to build the label "Big Cheese Records".
In 1992 the first issue of big cheese came up: "12 Tasty Grooves" a standard in rare groove music compilations. This period was very constructive with the meetings of Lazoo for the covers artwork and also Mr Pal for dj tour .
The label met success with its famous compilations "The Smoocher" and "The Meldown" and grew up during almost a decade with band productions like the "Big Cheese All Stars".
After a break, Momo decided in 2001 to re-start the label with the help of DJ Pal in order to develop the "Fu music serie". In the same vein of the famous "12 Tasty Grooves", the "Funk Fu 1", followed by the "Funk Fu 2" were released 12 years after the beginning of the label.
Other compilations will follow in winter 2007, like the "Hot Fu" and the reissues of the "Smoocher" & "Meltdown". Stay Tuned !
